This is not even remotely close to a rip off. Yes, they have the same form factors as engineers are restrained by the components inside. If this is a rip off then most dell towers are a rip off of whoever made the first midtower.

I have thought this since I looked closer at my school's computer lab PC's.

Since Dell's in bed with Microsoft, I am not surprised that the design is similar.

I agree with Robert. Think about all of the desktops, monitors, automobiles, and other products that look similar to those made by other companies. Kitchen faucets look the same, but are made by different people. I doubt they are trying to copy Dell, they were just looking for a cool design and came up with that. Purely coincidental.

Yep its a box about the same size as a mini motherboard. How would you expect Microsoft to package there custom PC. My God, both units have a 'On' buttons, call the lawers, patent infringement.

Its not a huge revelation here, but just goes to show how boring the 360's design really is. I was expecting so much more, though it could have been worse.

Back when I used to work at Microsoft our test lab was full of those Dell machines. It certainly occured to me that is where the xbox design team got their inspiration.

Well, it's made by Microsoft computer-thingy guys and computer-thingy guys aren't paid for their imagination, but by their programming. If it was a PS3 beater, which it's not because now everyone knows how shite it is, maybe it would have been even less of a deal.

Why all the talk about a system which needs to go back to the drawing board. The 360 is the biggest ripoff...yes they have good games, but to bad they haven't got the console to play them. Maybe they need to call Sony to find out how to build a real console. About them looking alike...yes they do, but that doesn't mean a whole lot as something is going to always look like something else. It's like that in music as well...songs sometimes sound like other songs....it happens.
